Basque Government Vocational Training centers are expanding their catalog of VIROO immersive content

The Basque Government Vocational Education and Training (VET) Centres continue to strengthen their commitment to the digitization of vocational training by expanding the catalog of immersive content available on the enterprise XR platform, VIROO.

This initiative is part of a strategy to transform learning environments through immersive technologies.

VIROO has established itself as the key platform for deploying, managing, and scaling extended reality experiences across the network of centers.

Currently, the solution has been implemented in dozens of vocational training centers, with more than 25 immersive rooms (VIROO Rooms) deployed, enabling full-scale multi-user experiences.

As an innovation hub within the Basque vocational training network, Tknika coordinates this initiative within an ecosystem that connects more than 25 public and charter schools, all of which develop and use immersive content in real classroom settings as part of their daily operations.

Faculty, students, educational institutions, and specialized partners actively collaborate to develop simulators that replicate industrial environments and real-world work situations, promoting practical, safe, and scalable learning.

VIROO is currently being used in a variety of professional fields, such as electrical engineering (low-voltage switchgear), industrial refrigeration, substations, automated logistics, and machining, as well as in applications focused on occupational safety and the care of people with special needs.

This year, the catalog has been expanded to include new simulators focused on key industrial operations and machinery, including training in the operation of cranes, forklifts, CNC machines, CMZ machining centers, injection molding machines, panel presses, and hydraulic presses, thereby strengthening the coverage of practical skills in real-world production environments.

One of the key distinguishing features of the ecosystem is its collaborative nature.

VIROO functions not only as a technology platform but also as a robust infrastructure that connects schools, content, and users.

This approach enables immersive learning to scale across the entire network, making it possible for content created at one center to be reused, evolved, and deployed at others, thereby accelerating educational innovation and ensuring alignment with the needs of the labor market.

These new initiatives reinforce the Basque system’s position as a leader in the application of immersive technologies to technical training. The Basque Country is consolidating a pioneering model in which technology enables new forms of learning and fosters a connected educational community capable of continuously creating, sharing, and improving content.
